About

A collector first.

Sandmark Rare Coins is led by me, Eric Liiv: a type collector for about 30 years, a member of the American Numismatic Association, and an eBay seller since 1999 with 100% positive feedback.

My story

It started with my grandfather.

Eric Liiv, founder of Sandmark Rare Coins

My grandfather was a collector of modest means. When I was a boy, he introduced me to old silver coins and proof sets, including a proof set from the year I was born. Not long after, an uncle showed me a Red Book, the standard guide to U.S. coins, and the sheer variety of designs hooked me: Bust, Seated Liberty, Barber, and dozens more.

That was about 30 years ago, and I've been collecting ever since. I'm a type collector at heart, always searching for the best example I can find of each design across many series. Along the way, I completed a set of twenty-cent pieces in both circulation strikes and proofs.

Sandmark Rare Coins grew out of that collection, and it runs on the same standard.

My standard

Only coins I would want in my own collection.

That means original surfaces, strong eye appeal, and quality that holds up for the grade. I favor certified coins from PCGS, NGC, and CACG, and especially coins that have earned CAC approval.

I bring the same care to every collection I'm asked to evaluate. A collection represents years of someone's attention, and it deserves to be looked at closely and valued fairly.
